RSE motor: what to pay attention to before ordering

The hub motor in the rear wheel converts the energy from the battery into pulling power and is one of the most heavily stressed parts. RSE fatbikes, including the Family model, are available in 500W and 750W versions.

Common signs that something is wrong: humming or metallic sound, motor spinning without pulling, jerking when starting off, less power.

What to pay attention to before ordering

Compare power, type and color of the plug, installation width of the rear fork and number of spokes. You choose the motor, controller and internal parts based on the power of your RSE. Not sure? Send a photo via WhatsApp, then our specialists will check if the part fits.

Tip: A motor that makes a lot of noise often only has worn gears: replacing them is much cheaper than a new motor.

Frequently asked questions about RSE motor

The motor of the RSE makes noise: does it need to be replaced?

Not always. The most common cause is worn nylon gears, which you can find in our motor gears.

Can I install a stronger motor?

A bicycle with pedal assistance may have a maximum nominal power of 250W in the Netherlands. With a stronger motor it becomes a moped, with registration and insurance requirements.
