Why 6 km/h?
An electric bike may only provide assistance when you pedal, up to 25 km/h. The only exception is assistance up to 6 km/h, for example to get moving or to let the bike walk beside you.
What if the throttle goes faster?
If your fatbike goes faster than 6 km/h on the throttle without pedaling, it no longer meets the definition of a bicycle. Legally, it is then a moped, requiring registration, insurance, and a driver's license.
Broken throttle?
We replace a broken or stuck throttle in our workshop, always adjusted according to the regulations. View throttles or schedule an appointment.
Riding a Sache Bikes fatbike legally
All our fatbikes are adjusted according to Dutch regulations: 250W, assistance up to 25 km/h, and a throttle up to 6 km/h. We do not sell parts to bypass these limits. View our fatbikes or have your bike checked in our workshop: schedule an appointment.
