How the repair works

1. Book an inspection or the correct repair via make an appointment.
2. Bring the bike, battery, key and charger to Philipsstraat 3B.
3. We test the battery, charger, contacts in the holder and wiring to the controller.
4. You will find out what is wrong and how much it will cost. We will not do anything without your approval.
5. We replace the holder, cover, lock or wiring, or recommend a new battery if it is truly worn out.
6. We test whether the bike receives a stable power supply and check the display setting for 25 km/h.

Is it the battery, or something around it?

A battery that no longer seems to work is not always broken. Often the problem lies with something around it: a charger that no longer charges, a worn battery holder causing the contacts to come loose, or a battery lock that no longer closes properly. A power cut-out when riding over bumps usually points to a poor connection in the holder rather than the cells themselves. A new holder (€85) is therefore much more cost-effective than a new battery.

For fatbikes with an integrated battery, the cover protects it from rain and dirt. If that cover is broken, moisture can reach the contacts. Replacing a battery cover costs €90, including drilling the mounting holes. If only the lock is stuck, see replace battery lock.

Handling your fatbike battery safely

• Only use the charger that came with your battery.
• Do not leave it charging unattended overnight, and stop charging a damaged or swollen battery.
• Store the battery indoors during winter and charge it at room temperature.
• Do not leave the battery completely empty for months.
• Never open the battery yourself; if in doubt, have it tested first.
