Ouxi V8 motor makes noise or does not pull

A rattling, grinding, or slipping sound from the rear wheel, or a motor that hums but doesn't provide power. With a hub motor, this usually indicates worn gears or bearings. Below, you'll find out what to check for each cause on your Ouxi V8, and which part you need.

Most common causes

Worn motor gears

The hub motor contains nylon gears that wear out over time. The motor then makes noise or slips when accelerating. View motor gears.

Bearings or loose axle

A loose axle nut or worn bearing causes play and noise. Check whether the axle nuts are properly tightened. View wheels for the Ouxi V8.

Motor connector or motor cable

A damaged motor cable causes jerky riding. The 2022-2024 motor has a black connector; the dual-battery version has a motor with a red connector. View motors for the Ouxi V8.

Motor failure

If the motor itself is broken, a complete motor or wheel with motor is often the quickest solution. View motors for the Ouxi V8.

What you need to know about the Ouxi V8

  • The V8 1.0 has its own controller. 2024-2025 models have a controller with a black motor connector, while the V8 Pro and V8 Ultra have a new controller with a red connector.
  • The Ouxi V8 2.0 and 3.0 have the M5 display (old or new version, limited to 25 km/h). The V8 4.0 has the HC80 display. The V8 1.0 has its own display with a short cable, and the V8 Ultra has a GT20 display.
  • The Ouxi V8 charges with a 1-pin charger, the same as the H9, the C80, and the old Qmwheel V20 (2022-2023).

Step-by-step guide

  1. Start simple: fully charge the battery, reinsert the battery, and check all connectors at the handlebars.
  2. Check the display: note any error code or take a photo.
  3. Send us a photo of the display, connector, or part via WhatsApp. We'll tell you which part you need.
  4. Do it yourself or have it done: order the part, or book an appointment in The Hague or Zoetermeer. Your bike is often ready the same day.

Never work on the electronics while the battery is in the bike, and never open a battery yourself. Lithium batteries can be dangerous if damaged.
